With the now official approval of Covid-19 vaccines for 5-11 year olds and notification of a shipment date for vaccine stock from the state, our office is now beginning to schedule appointments for this age group via both weekday afternoon and Saturday morning clinics, from November 10 through November 20, 2021. Appointments will be available on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm, and on Saturdays from 8:30am to 2:30 pm. For social distancing purposes, please have only one parent present per family during these appointments.
We do not yet have the lower dose vaccine in stock. We expect to receive an initial allotment next week that would cover less than 5% of our eligible patients. Due to both limited initial vaccine availability and the additional 15-30 minute observation time required after vaccine administration, Covid-19 vaccines for 5-11 year olds are ONLY being offered via these vaccine clinics. At this time we are not able to administer vaccine to those who have appointments scheduled for regular check-ups or any other same day office appointment, including previously scheduled Flu shots.
When scheduled, you will receive appointment dates for both the first and second doses, which are 3 weeks apart. Please make sure your child will be available for both dates when scheduling. The paired dates are:
November 10 and December 1
November 11 and December 2
November 13 and December 4
November 17 and December 8
November 18 and December 9
November 20 and December 11
More appointments at our office will be made available as we hear of further vaccine availability from the state. Please feel free to have your child obtain their vaccine at a school or community based clinic if it is more convenient or accessible. Please call the office to speak to your primary provider with any questions about the Covid-19 vaccine for 5-11 year olds.
UPDATE: We have currently filled all of our available appointment slots for 5-11 year old Covid-19 vaccines with the 300 doses allotted directly from Pfizer (which we HAVE NOT received on site yet; they are due to arrive before our scheduled appointments next week). At this time The Maryland Health Department is unable to fill our urgent requests for further doses. We encourage you to look for other venues, such as retail pharmacies and school or community based clinics, to obtain vaccine for your children if more convenient. We will update you as soon as more information becomes available. Thank you SO MUCH for your continued patience and your support for Covid-19 vaccines!
